Our preschools need planter boxes!

Our son is a preschool student and we want to share with him our love of nature and being outdoors. We believe that it's important to learn from an early age how to grow your own garden. Kids should be allowed the opportunity to discover why plants have roots and the importance of insects and animals have in keeping our world a healthy place to live.

So when his preschool reached out to us with a dream of building garden boxes to grow a vegetable garden, we jumped in to help. We partnered with our local lumber supplier here in Fort Collins, Cedar Supply to provide finished cedar lumber and donated our time to install raised cedar planter beds.

Our son was able to work with David to build them. Mind you, his contribution was limited to choosing the songs to work to and handing them screws. My husband normally likes family-friendly upbeat music to work by but not "Baby Shark" on repeat. Being a good sport, he didn't complain too much. Now Cody seems to be the authority of which insects are good for gardens and how to care for plants; as he constantly is giving me advice on our own home garden.

Our first donation of planter boxes was so appreciated that at his new school, We decided to do it all again. If as a business, all we leave as our legacy is a slew of places where children and families can play and grow together then I consider us successful local entrepreneurs. Contributing to our neighborhoods like this is a great way for us to grow as a business while we grow as a nature loving community.

Growing a business is a lot like a garden, in that you put in hard work and make sure you use the right tools and know the best way to care for it. You pray for good weather. But as every gardener knows after a hailstorm or water damage you need to make repairs fast. In 2018 and now 2019 the unpredictable weather has kept us busy working with home owners on their insurance claims to fix hail damaged decking, pergolas and siding. We've been able to resurrect many outdoor living spaces as well as several bathrooms and fireplaces after an insurance claim was made.
